Cobh & Harbour Chamber are continuing the Summer Swing Series

 

 

Summer Swing Final Roundup

 

With autumn in its final phase the Cobh & Harbour Chamber looks back on its Summer Swing series which ended in August.  Over 20 acts performed in the promenade in Cobh from April and these also included four full family fun days.

 

Local stall holders provided a wonderful array of food and arts and crafts and were joined by product providers from the surrounding area, while every event provided something for everyone during the summer.   The free carousel rides were a big hit with the children while the ever popular face painters were run off their feet with all the little clients who came away as everything from batman, princess and tigers!  Acts included many local talented bands namely  “the Big Band”, the Urge, Back on Track, ‘Young Once’  and many more performed live on the bandstand while Diarmuid Moroney and Niamh Halligan, provided the Irish Traditional music for the large full day events.

 

The Chamber would like to thank the Port of Cork and Harbour Flights Ireland who donated prizes for the fundraising draw which raised 2,000 euros.  First prize of lunch for six on board the Independence of the Seas went to Yvonne O’Donovan, Coolamber Drive and Con & Mary Fitzpatrick, French’s Avenue won the second prize of a scenic flight tour.

 

The Cobh & Harbour Chamber, would like to thank Peter Kidney who helped organise the markets during the summer and the Chamber staff who gave of their time again and again to sell tickets and help organise the events. A huge thank you to SECAD and the businesses that contributed to the fundraising and to the Cobh Town Council and their ground staff. The events couldn’t have been done without the support of the business community and the Chamber expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed big and small.  Thousands of euro was spent organising these events, and despite the hard work involved these events are growing more and more popular both with visitors and locals alike. It was wonderful to have raised enough money to provide free entertainment each weekend throughout the summer months and already next year’s itinerary is being planned.
